How do I approach someone on MySpace?

OK, here's the situation...

I finally found this girl I used to know on MySpace and, upon seeing her, I got a flood of memories.

I always liked her back in the day, about 7 years ago, but was always too much of a wimp to ask her out! I was such a chicken! Heh- growing up, we always kinda on-and-off liked eachother, but nothing ever happened.

Anyway, I realized that I'm just as crazy for her today as I ever was. Luckily for me, she lives near me and is apparently single *knocks on wood*.

I'm on her Friends list (one of two), so I guess that's a good start.

The question is, how should I approach this from here on out?

I don't think just straight up writing to her and asking her out would be a good idea. Just seems kinda...desperate, I guess. I feel like I only have one shot at this and I really don't want to blow it!

Should I write her an e-mail? What should I say in it that would increase the chances of her writing back and wanting more?

You definitely shouldn't straight-up ask her out. My advice is that you should send her a message to catch up with her, if some time has gone by. After a few exchanges, ask if she'd like to meet up with you in person; maybe keep it friendly at first, and see where it goes from there.
