i dont think it is a good idea , because of the things that she can run into on there that could be not age appropriate for her. If you are going to let her keep that account you should definitly tell her and make sure thatyou have comlete access to her account ( password and ect) that way you can make sure that no wierd person is trying to contact her ect. you can check on her friends list and make sure these people are her actuall school friends and not strangers. make sure her profile is set to private as well . there are many security options on their you can set. I think like i said if she is going to keep that account you should have full access. :)

It's every parent's choice as to what they allow their child to have access to. I have an 11 year old daughter and for us we've decided that she's still a little too young- (I'm pretty sure that you are supposed to be 14 to open up an account anyway???)- For more info here are a few sites (hope they work) that have more info. Keep the computer in a common area and keep tabs...also make her space private and check who she has as her friends, ask her questions and be open...this could be a way that you and your daughter bond, but you must be committed to this or things could get crazy...kids need some place to have freedoms slowly but surely, but always remember that you are the parent and you are in charge...

Some other ideas are to put her age as 100 and a picture that is arbitrary, her friends will think its funny and predators won't even know what to think....

Delete her account ASAP. An 11-year-old is way too young for a myspace account. There are sex offenders all over that site. I would explain to her the disadvantages of myspace and why she's too young for an account. Anyone could trick her into meeting them in person- such a dangerous, unsafe act.

My first response would be no. I work at a primary school and I had this conversation with my third graders. If you are monitoring the child and they only have friends that they know and family members that are there friends on myspace then it is fine. Just heavily monitor the child and do not allow her to have friends that she does not know.
