Why are there so many young people on MySpace, especially young girls??

It seems like there are a lot of younger teenage girls, and those under 14 years of age! There are young people who post fake ages. Now last year (when I used to be heavily addicted to it), I used to believe those were their true ages. As time passed, I learned there are a lot of underage posers on there.

young teenage girls are very nieve when it comes to men and think its cool to lie about their age and get older guys to like them. not so much so they can get them into trouble but so they can tell their mates 'oh, im going out or seeing an older guy, look at me!' sort of thing. Ive been on myspace since i was 17 and ive never lied about my age, its pointless. I only go on there to chat to my friends from school who dont live near me anymore but thats it. I have had some weird men start chatting me up and saying some not very nice stuff but i just block em. i dont go on there to be hit on by dirty old men so i dont go on that often. but young girls dont think of it like that,. they think its fun and a laugh to get chatted up by old perves and then they wind them up etc. just shows how nieve and immature they still are.

I got my myspace when I was 12, im 13 now. But...like everyone has a myspace and we want one 2...so yeah.....

Well, it could be that they feel they don't have enough friends and feel they need some online ones. Or they think if you have a cool myspace page then you are cool. i think it is basically peer pressure

It's probably because everyone has a myspace and people want to have one, too. I'm fourteen and yeah, i got mine when i was like twelve or something. But it's just another easy way to talk to your friends. I moved, so i needed another way to get to all my friends back in my hometown besides using up my cell phone minutes.
